Meade DS2000 mount working well
« on: May 18, 2015, 07:54:52 PM »
Just to report that I have had great success in using Satellite Tracker with my Meade DS2000 with Autostar #497 hand controller.

I will be using this for ham radio communications, so I replced the 102mm scope with an Arrow Satellite antenna.

that is pretty cool, did you retain any optical capability at all or are you going to rely on signal strength to peak up the track ? BTW what is the beamwidth of your antenna ? Pictures man !!

You asked for pictures. ..

I did not retain any optical capabilities in this configuration but my Astro buddies are suggesting some kind of camera or ccd arrangement in combination with the Antenna.

First things first i need to prove the design in the fields actually talking to a real ham satellite or maybe even the iss. ☺

The pipe arrangement is not yet as stable as i would like.

I will be using some ham radio software to ensure the radio handles the doppler effect On the frequency. The antenna covers 2m and 70cm.

The mount cost me $50 used with a102mm refractor.
