Great setup you have.
Are you shooting at 2845mm FL or?
Are you taking single images or video or?
Thanks for sharing!

Hey Nic,
I am shooting prime focus in photo mode, live view. It can do about 4 FPS full resolution.

Hello OZ

I used TleRetriever many years ago.
Once setup, just 2 or 3 clicks and you get get all needed tle's
Things changed in 2013? when Space-Track changed their web services
Looks like things have changed again in 2018
You now need TleRetriever 3

I quit using everyone's available downloads procedures and created my
own personal cygwin Linux Bash scripts.
Mostly wget's to Space-Track, NASA, Heavens-Above, Mike McCants for magnitudes and your tumbler database.

Somehow I have prefixed tum and mag to satellite name.
Very complicated for me to understand and dealing with multiple directories.

I don't understand how to make it available to public but
I hope to simplify it to one directory on my new laptop and hopefully make
 it available to SatelliteTracker members.

Setup visual tle download part 2 of 2
Hello OZ

I had added a PAUSE command to my visual.bat file to allow viewing the following for troubleshooting
The lines at bottom are from Space-Track's response to running my visual.bat file
The X's and Y's should be your Space-Track's login/password

Setup visual tle download part 1 of 2
Hello OZ

The bottom 6 lines are from my visual.bat file
Delete the 10 X's and replace with your Space-Track Login Name
Delete the 10 Y's and replace with your Space-Track Password
Notice that I added a PAUSE to allow viewing Space-Track's response for troubleshooting.
After you are happy all is working ok, you can remove the PAUSE command

"wget1pt15.exe" --no-check-certificate --post-data "identity=XXXXXXXXXX&password=YYYYYYYYYY" --keep-session-cookies --save-cookies=cookies.txt -o login.txt

"wget1pt15.exe" --no-check-certificate --keep-session-cookies --load-cookies=cookies.txt -O visual.txt ""

Satellite Tracker Bug Reports / Re: Download TLE file failed

I just now executed my batch files to get the TLE data and my current batch files work okay. I was able to get the latest TLE data without any problems. Please review your edits and be sure that each line in the original file is a full line in the edited file. You may have had a wrap around on a long line as a result of your edit and this will mess up the download.

It's Sep 2018, how you guys getting your TLE's?
I am using ST2.6.1.

1. I can manually log into space and manually d/l tle, then save each file, a little pain but the only way I get files at the moment.
2. For me the ST download does not work, it creates 0KB files.
3. TLEretriver also d/l files that are 0KB
4. Using "wgetdata.bat, after reading the readme and setting up my known working username and password in that file, it runs, closes the dos window and no files show up. I even logged into spacetrack first, same. I cant read what the dos window flashes up.

It's working as advertised.  No more errors.

I'm a happy camper on the outside of our spaceship Earth moving through the vacuum of space.

User Field Experiences / One way to download LEO's from Space-Track
« Last post by Jimmy Andrews on September 13, 2018, 08:40:25 PM »
I saw Darwin's message about tracking fast moving LEO's (Low Earth Objects)
to practice tracking that fast moving ISS.

I've been trying to to understand Space-Track's API URL parameters.
Not very easy for me but I have something right or wrong and seems to work.

Login in to Space-Track

Double click the following link for a list of 256 LEO's
Or select, copy and paste into browser for a list of 256 LEO's

Ansi codes for special characters in url
%3E   greater than (>)
%3C less than (<)
%20 space ( )
If you put this url in a batch file, you may need to add an extra % to each. (%%3E, %%3C, %%20)

One of these faster satellites has a horizon to horizon duration of 3 minutes (must be a highly elliptical orbit).
The ISS takes 10 minutes from horizon to horizon.  Most of these LEO's are 8 to 12 minutes duration.,tle_line1,tle_line2/orderby/MEAN_MOTION%20desc/limit/256/format/3le/emptyresult/show

Copy and paste your results into a file.  I call my file leo.txt  Remember where it's located.

Start SatelliteTracker
Click Open tle
Find and select your tle file (leo.txt)

Click window at right of Refresh List to view satellites

Below Open TLE is Batch Predict

Click Batch Predict

Select start day and time
For the next 300 minutes (5 hours)
Pass duration greater than 8 minutes
Max Elevation greater than 20 degrees

I place a check mark beside Low Mod and High Altitude

Click Calculate
Wait for Calculate 1-256 of 256 objects to finish
Click Add to View Plan
Click Close

Click View Plan to see what's coming up when and where

Sometimes I click ''Remove All'' and start a new Batch Predict

If you want to track one of the visible satellites,
Select that line
click ''Select Object''

Information for that satellite will display in left panel.

Click Predict Pass to see when it's visible and Max Elevation at your location.
Pass duration greater than 2 minutes
Check mark beside Exclude Daytime passes
May need to close and reopen Predict Pass to re-read any changes if you changed something.
You need to select a line before clicking World Map, Sky Map or add to view plan

Click Next 24 Hours to see if it's viewable tomorrow or the day after.
Click close when finished

Click ''Start Tracking''
Center object with Timing Offset and Alignment Adjustment buttons

Start with a low power eyepiece.
Increase eyepiece power at your own pace.

Explanation of some of the API url parameters.

Not sure about first part

List last 5 tle's of object

Adding /ORDINAL/1/ to the URL will show only the most recent TLE for each object.

Period of 80 to 100 minutes the ISS is around 93 minutes

EPOCH less than 7 days old
EPOCH/>now-7/ or with Ansi character EPOCH/%3Enow-7/

Remove 0 from beginning of line 0

Order by revolutions per day descending (Fastest moving to Slowest)
orderby/MEAN_MOTION desc/ or with Ansi character orderby/MEAN_MOTION%20desc/

limit to 256 tle's

3 line tle

If no results are found, display ''NO RESULTS RETURNED''

When someone says That's Impossible,
that means they don't know how to do it and
they don't think anyone else can figure out how to do it.
Possible can be done today, Impossible takes a little longer.

Message from my ISP as follows:

Hi John. I did find that our firewall was misinterpreting something with the email system, as an attack against your site, so it blocked it, causing the 500 error. I've removed that rule from being used on your site, so this should be resolved.
